A Prelude To A Storm Poem by GORDON BUTCHERS

A Prelude To A Storm

The air was still
Humid and warm,
With an eerie silence
A prelude to a storm.

Then the sound of distant rumblings
Spread a kind of fear,
And a gentle breeze picks up
As the storm draws near.

Out over the sea
Forks of lightening flicker around,
Lighting up the horizon
As they zig zag to the ground.

Suddenly a spatter of rain falls
From the darkened sky,
Soaking the parched land
That was so dusty and dry.

Soon the storm moves off
With the passing of the rain,
Now the dark clouds are braking up
As the sun comes out again.
