A Red Squirrel Departs Poem by john (called jack) wren

A Red Squirrel Departs

Gone is Winter, Spring and Summer
and the fallen leaves of Autumn time
noiselessness silence fills the space where
Blackbirds sang their harmonious chime
Death's cold gaze chilled your bones
and held you in a vice like trance
even one as fast as the speed of light
the Reaper gives no second chance
your friend the Earth waits
to cocoon you in its heart
and woodland friends mourn
in reverence at your depart
off to the Kingdom of Paradise
your spirit rides on the breeze
and the sound of rejoicing is
heard up on high in the tree's.
