A Sad Song Poem by Charnen Postrano

A Sad Song

I used to love, love songs.
Dancing to the music while seeing sparks fly whenever I play it.
I used to love, love songs,
Because I always thought about you.

But suddenly those love songs turned into sad songs.
As if the acoustics are played by broken strings;
Broken melody, perhaps, have you thought about it?
The love songs were once about you; it is still about you but with a different meaning.

It is melodic, yet melancholic.
It is euphonic, yet cacophonic.
But who cares? You aren't mine to lose.
It is a shame to play dead when you aren't mine to lose,
But is it okay to get hurt?

I love you and I won't deny.
You are my tulip in a field of roses;
You drew stars around my scars but now I'm bleeding.
You are yet to be my favorite art, poetry, compositions but now I cry for it.

Let me love you even if it hurts now.
I will hush like a baby that cried.
I will never let you hear my pleas.
I'm not desperate; I'm just in love with a sad song.
