A Shadow's Sonnet Poem by Oduro Bright Amoh

A Shadow's Sonnet

Rating: 4.0

I used to be: but now a dingy shade,
A slight affair, an ill recalled side show.
In times when the sun crowns your lighter head
I become a mere shrink beneath your feet.
When life's morn shines serving a happy treat,
When heart's passions your merry feet now tread,
Your beauty is ablaze, your joy aglow,
Look behind, will you? I'm about to fade.
Like fear, I lurk close behind your covers:
My sullen darkness not good for your light.
Who brings ugly friends to charm's fair lovers
Will blight the brighter sight of lighter plight
But when darkness comes and life falls to dawn,
You'll hanker for me, but I'll be long gone.
