A Shot In The Dark Poem by Edwina Reizer

A Shot In The Dark

We have set our sights for the moon again.
Won't we ever learn?
Every time we shoot for the moon
it's money that we burn.

Do we really need to go there
to gather dusty rocks?
What in the world do we do with them,
keep them in a box?

I'd rather see the moon
that shines its light on me
but all the fancy explorers
will never ever be

satisfied with this old earth.
They're on an ego trip.
And as our money is burning up
they're in a rocket ship.

They're telling us now there's water there
but not a dropp to drink.
We need to take care of our waters
and take some time to think.

Maybe there is a man in the moon
or maybe there's more than one.
Whatever the reason for going there
it's better left undone.
