David, I beg to differ, you are not just another guy, you are an American hero who has fulfilled his purpose in life. Killing and death are ghosts of war, they haunt and claw at your mind, time does not let them fade away, they are memories relived over and over again, unbidden. You have a very beautiful soul, David, it shines brightly in this poem, drowning in life sometimes we don't see those who appreciate and love us. Our eyes are open, hearts always welcoming in our unsung heroes. We know you fought for Americans and we will never forget the sacrifices you have made to protect us. At this very moment the whole country is watching, their eyes on you, because you matter to all of us, you're not just another guy, you are our brother whom we love and honor! Best to you always, you will never be forgotten! Your poem has definitely made an impression you can be sure of that! You have been recognized by Americans and the entire world now on PoemHunter. Love you, thank you for your service to us and America! RoseAnn
A lovely piece of poetry depicting the deplorable condition in which some veterans found themselves in after years of selfless service to motherland. A well articulated poem bristling with insight. Thanks for sharing David.
