A Simple Plea. Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

A Simple Plea.

A prayer, a simple plea,
To be less about just me.
My good deeds, were they for show?
To hear applause, to make ego grow?

This prayer helps me look inside,
Where pride and selfish motives hide.
To serve, not for my own reward,
But for God and those adored.

Let others choose their own desires,
Fuel their flames, ignite their fires.
Take charge, dear God, of what I think,
From worry's edge, pull me back to the brink.

When thoughts of 'poor me' start to bloom,
Or lies I tell fill up the room,
I'll chase them out, banish them fast,
So peace with God and all will last.
