I'm a quiet heart, a gentle stream,
With shields unseen, a hidden gleam.
They see my face, they hear my plea,
But miss the strength that lives in me.
Like Abraham, when fear took hold,
A story told, but truth untold.
He said his wife, a sister dear,
To quell a king, to banish fear.
Or border guards, with watchful eyes,
A word they'd whisper, 'neath the skies.
'Shibboleth, ' they'd softly say,
To know friend from foe, come what may.
I bear my own, I wear my crown,
These gentle guards, not fully known.
Misunderstood, by those who stand,
But not alone, in this wide land.
My own defense, you may not know,
A different root, a different flow.
But understanding, like the sun,
Will shine on all, when day is done.
