A Song Or A Sob Poem by Mandira Chattopadhyay

A Song Or A Sob

In spite of all privations
I used to sing in private
Because life had given
Me joy to live and love

Everywhere I looked into
The eyes of all those and
Found them smiling at me

Life seemed too full,
So fragrant
Because you were there
Now the song has become a sob

Every time I want to listen to a song
A sob rises up from deep within me
Will I ever enjoy a song? Ever?
I don’t want a song…..

How can I walk on this earth
When there is so much sob within me?
Limp, limp, totter,
Somebody whispers, your duty my dear.
