A Story Poem by Jyotishman Debnath

A Story

there must be a story behind this lonely nights
the love sick voice of the bird
in whose dictation
the flower speaks the first promise

there must be some story behind
dew writing the words of winds in the tree leafs
the foggy morning and wine colored evenings
a reason behind empty glass and empty bars

there must be some story behind the last whistling train
the whistle that can be heard 100 miles
some warm cold goodbyes
and some tears
for him, who is never returning back

there must be some story behind the broken hearts
and the first love
one side roses bloom and another the thrones
there must be some story behind this throne
the ornament of thrones
yet the wishes are the roses

there must be some story
behind everything
what we see what we speak and what we do
if there is none,
come let's write one!
