A Strong And Beautiful Fossil
I lived on the edge of reality
driving my body to extremes
drowning in both alcohol
and vain fitness convolutions
Balanced diets were for sissies
sufficient sleep the luxury of lazy bums
never worried about the toll on my body
like a perpetual motion human machine
trying to squeeze every iota of existence
out of existence
Now in my sixties it's payback time
My aging mortal frame i have to boost
I do 5 kilometre brisk walking
watch the carbs i eat
drink water to a minimum of two litres a day
have adequate sleep
I am getting stronger
getting healthier with stronger stamina and bones
all soon to be buried six feet in the ground
as a strong and beautiful fossil
