A Thousand Chances Poem by Akinyi Oyuke

A Thousand Chances

Don't they say that love never comes easy?
Is it not true that you haven't loved until it hurts?
The chances to fall in love, can I count them?
Don't they say again that you only love once?
What about Soulmates?
Love...
One confusing word, yet so powerful
To close my eyes and fathom..
Of someone to hold and love
One unending, sweet pure love
Sweet as nothing, fulfilling as everything
Who doesn't want to be loved?
But...
What about the deep cracks it leaves?
The agonising pain, the never ending bleed?
The sore wounds?
To Love or Not to..
Begs the question
An answer to this mystery, I know not
But if a cult, I want to join
To drink from the cup of love..To drown in its tears
The sweetness, the bitterness
To live for every emotion
To win the battle
Or to loose it
Give a thousand more chances
It's a risk worth taking
To find love, to be loved again
To find that one person, to find a soulmate.
