A Time To Mourn Poem by Richard Antwi

A Time To Mourn

Rating: 5.0

From my childhood days,
And in my culture,
I have learnt from my forefathers
That the death of someone
Was time to mourn
A time to reflect and make decisions
To care for the deceased family
And a time to limit what you eat
You naturally lack appetite for taste
But Lo! Things have turned round.
Now funeral is time to grab money deceitfully
For unnecessary extravagant food
Funerals - time to reflect
Or time to eat lavishly
At the expense of others?
