A Tribute Poem by Somanathan Iyer

A Tribute

All were in their teens, handsome and beautiful
with eyes full of dreams, minds full of goals
hearts full of love and brains full of intelligence
ecstasy reverberant all around moments before doom
vanished once for all with waters and human negligence
alas! no one to own the blame yet blame game is on!
The anguish and agony caused to their near and dear
Haunt them for ever with no words for solace
Shattered are their parents shocked are the kith and kin
Condolences and compensations never bring back their joy
Bright brains perished for no fault of theirs
"Rest in Peace" is the only tribute we all can offer!
