A Tribute To Nurses On Nurses' Day,2018 Poem by Dr John Celes

Your share of tender loving care
To patients dying, ill who fare;
Makes you all angels very rare,
And medical persons always stare
At angels of mercy that you are;
Nobler than doctors by far,
Or at least at par,
When against ailments and death-throes, we war.

The world is proud of your great sacrifice;
Without a wink, you labour nice;
You utter words of solace, advice;
You do the things just right and wise;
Sometimes, you come with a surprise;
Some patients even give up their vice;
At times, your toil has never a price!

Your knowledge skill to patients ill;
Your words so sane, their hearts can fill;
Your tact when patients swallow a bitter pill;
Your lard-work, patience and power of will;
Your smiles even when things go downhill -
Remain unmatched and unsurpassed still.

You're humane even to those insane;
You are a boon, never a bane;
From you, the world has much to gain;
You tread life's toughest, terrain and lane;
Your white attire, cap will reign,
Even if you must at times, feign!

The wards will empty, if you aren't there;
You are oxygen to those who hunger for air;
No tag can fit the quality of your care;
The patient's nails, you even pare;
Sometimes, you do things, others wouldn't dare;
Round the clock, you slog for patient's welfare.

You are such unique souls,
And meant for tough and tricky roles;
With aims and dreams and celestial goals.

Your soothing words and tender touch;
You're hope to patients in a couch;
Youhelp the doctors do their part;
The science you learn becomes an art;
The world appreciates your toil;
Sans nurses, the world of healing will be in turmoil.
