A Trip Back To The Dining Room Poem by Angie M..

A Trip Back To The Dining Room

For some, it was sudden familiarity
They turned corners like it was yesterday,
(like they hadn't been in their room for a month at all)
a pause and resume moment

For some, a little intimidating…
wide eyes in the shrinking
(like they were doing something wrong)
and left early in the uncertainty.

For some, it was exciting,
an effort to link back to old conversations
(table-mate chatter while slightly increasing their manors)
while putting extra effort in their consumption
(as though to drag out the experience)

And for some, an awaited expectation
They took their place, owned their mat,
'see, this is where I was trying to go! '
