A True Friend Poem by Barry Middleton

A True Friend

many years have come and gone
I still recall that smile

I have wandered far from home
as mile has led to mile

seasons come and seasons go
until I see the end

then I come to know the loss
of life without my friend

it may be death that steals a life
or distance or neglect

so there should be a lesson there
to nurture and protect

rarer than gold or precious gems
the finest gift of earth

is kinship found with a loyal friend
to grant life deeper worth
