A Very Warm Day For Early November Poem by Francis Duggan

A Very Warm Day For Early November

The day is warm the sky full of flying insects the buzzing sounds of millions of flies and bees
The pale eyed crows their bills wide open panting and butterflies dancing in the warm breeze
A very warm day for early in November the sheep shelter in the shade of the trees
El Nino from the ground sucking the moisture a forecast high of thirty two degrees
In the humid heat of early evening few birds singing seems like a warm Summer is on the way
In South Australia 'tis even warmer than in Victoria a forecast high of 36 for there today
In early Spring we did have heavy rainfall but now the roadside drains of water dry
The one known as El Nino always thirsty when the sun is at it's warmest in the sky
The farmers fear another long hot Summer by climate change they have been hit quite bad
The long spells of drought have left them all the poorer financially the last few years the worst they've ever had,
'Tis a fact global warming is now Worldwide and climate change is affecting everywhere
And more sad news of environmental refugees from drought stricken Lands of the bigger World out there
Yet we are burning more fossil fuels that cause carbon emissions as if of global warming we are not aware
And due to habitat destruction as well as climate change many species of Wildlife are becoming rare.
