A Victim Of The Drug Baron Poem by Francis Duggan

A Victim Of The Drug Baron

In a disused factory doorway in the dark and the quiet
A mother's teenage daughter lay dying tonight
From a drug overdose in the dark and the cold
She will never have children and grow to be old.

In the leafy Suburb a big party is in swing
At the drug baron's house the guests dance and sing
Whilst one he supplies to will not see one more day
The life from her slowly keeps slipping away.

In the disused factory doorway she will draw her last breath
For one of eighteen an inglorious death
Yet she is a victim of cruel circumstance
Whilst the drug baron sing and the drug baron dance.

Tonight the drug baron's birthday his mates celebrate
And at his huge party the atmosphere's great
But one he supplies to in a factory doorway is dying where she lay
Though what goes around comes around a wise one did say.
