The battle-cry went out
and they marched in obedience
for the opportunity
to defend their country
As the patriotic flags were waved
they were told
it was a matter of national security
The children cried
and waved goodbye
never knowing
it was all a lie
perpetrated by the “chosen ones”
Sitting in their finery
plotting and planning
Sipping their hedonistic elixirs
of god-like domination
While the sheep followed
bleating in agreement
Devouring the glorious fabrication
delivered ad nauseam
on the nightly news
The killed and maimed
forgotten and discarded
Swept aside and hidden
like an embarrassing disease
The flag-draped coffins never seen
No hero’s homage or tearful dirge
Innocent lives destroyed
forced to leave their homes to strangers
becoming outcasts in alien lands
suffered loss beyond measure
Childrens’ hopes denied
Dreams shattered
like the ruins that surrounded them
The battle-weary
returned in silence
Inner anger raging
Forever changed
Silent from the unspeakable
Unable to reconcile in their soul
the violence endured
While the elite
debated
and strategized
Propagandized and slandered
Gluttons of greed
for gain of power supreme
continued their repetitious rhetoric
The truth must never be known

Lorraine, I write about this subject practically every day. If enough of us sound the alarm to create awareness, action and change shall follow. Thank you for your insight and brave words. Peace, Ray
