As I sleep tonight
the last night I will sleep with you
I hold you close
and feel my heart
beating softly against yours
I smell your sweet smell
and feel the softness of your naked body next to mine
Soft skin
Head on your shoulder
Arms and legs entwined
Till we are one
I kiss your cheek and whisper
“Good night” in your ear
My heart filled with emotion
and love so much
I feel I may burst any minute
Then the tears begin to flow
softly onto your chest
as I wonder how I can survive
the lonely nights ahead
Sleepless nights
with no end
When my weary eyes will cry for rest which will not come
And finally when it does
I will cry again
when I awake
Only to find I have to make it through
another lonely day
another lonely night without you
