A Warm February Day In The Moyne Shire Poem by Francis Duggan

A Warm February Day In The Moyne Shire

The weather temperatures close to the forty degrees
And the warm air full of the buzzing of bush flies and bees
In the sunny blue sky not one cloud of gray
For late February it is a very warm day

In green garden and brown paddock everywhere one look one does see
Countless white butterflies around every bush and tree
As well as thousands of dragon flies flying in the sky
In warm sunny weather they seem to multiply

In the coastal Moyne Shire close to Koroit Town
The drains of water empty the paddocks looking dry and brown
The farmers feeling worried and hoping for some rain
In this thing known as Global Warming for them great financial pain

It is quite warm for mid February the calendar Autumn near
Thirty five degrees or over quite hot for the time of year
In the cool shade by the gum trees cattle chewings their cuds do lay
For the Moyne Shire of south west Victoria it is quite a warm day.
