A Work In Progress Poem by Randy McClave

A Work In Progress

As I take a look into my mirror
I again give out a little cheer,
I am not the way that I once was
Now my soul is full of redemption and love.
Sadly of course I do occasionally sin
I then ask the Lord for forgiveness with an amen,
But, I'm getting better every single day
And thankfully to the Lord, I always pray.
I go to church now with a smile
No more in my soul do I harbor guile,
Everyone that I see and meet is my sister and/or bother
Even though we share a different father and mother.
Every day I am becoming a better man
Which was of course the Lord's ultimate plan,
No more a sinner, a lair or a cheater will I be
All because the Lord loves me.
I have already put off my "old self, "
I placed it as a memory on my shelf,
No more am I judging or hating or cursin'
I am now a new and a better person.
A new process in my soul has begun
And I'm on the way to it being done,
I am on my way on becoming new
All because the Lord loves me and you.
Sadly of course I will make mistakes
Occasionally, I might accidentally give out heartbreaks,
But, this to all I will proudly and honestly confess
I am still a work in progress.
