I wanted her as my fate
I wanted her as my workmate,
Daily chores we would share
Then nightly we'd have prayer.
We would walk the very same road
Carry the same load,
We would always be there for each other
As I remember of my father and mother.
I was hoping for her to be my soon to be spouse
We would share the same life and house,
From dusk unto dawn
We would always be seen as one.
Daily I had dreams and I gave her flowers
After working the many hours,
And she was there always with me
It gave my soul both glory and glee.
Together we were building a life
Soon through the grace of God we would be man and wife,
So, as workmates it would be her and I
Together forever we'd be one in Gods eye.
Then one day to me she said
She didn't like or enjoyed where our road has led,
Being my helper she said she was getting tired
But, I swore to her she would not be fired.
Then I started working all alone
And by myself for us I did strive and I did moan
Less and less she was there at my side
I then lost my pride.
She didn't want to be my assistant
I then felt a great resentment
But, then in the end
Her resignation to me she did send.
