A Youth In The 21st Century - Poem by Chanda Lena Mondoka

As a son or daughter of certain parents
We grow with love and protection
Each parent wants- to protect- their children’s dreams & goals
They always want- the best for their children
The more parents do that
The further children move further from them
Even though they do it for their sake
They do it with forced passion

Anger grows in them each day
Their anger is expressed towards other people
Innocent people tend to feel the youth’s emotions
Let the youth learn to make his or her own choices
Let them understand your genuine reason
For your protection
In that way you will create -
Better friendships
In that way you will create-
Better relations as parents with your children
Yes! ! Your love they need to feel
Your protection we need to see
But your support in order to see
Our wings soar high
Up the skies- like an eagle with renewed strength
That way – we gonna to be – visionary leaders
That way we gonna - influence our peers
That way we gonna- abstain from promiscuous behavior - like- sexual intercourse – drug abuse – like marijuana, beer drinking
That way we gonna fight the HIV/AIDS pandemic and unwanted pregnancies
By- sexual purity and self-control
That way we gonna have poverty eradicated
