About Succubus And Incubus

(Warning: this poem might be confronting for some readers)

Don't ever let the devil catch you sleeping
he will try and steal what's rightfully yours
and please don't ask me how he does it creeping
up on all by means of a key to dream's doors.

You may hardly suspect but he comes in disguise
making his appearance through the subconscious mind
when you're dreaming so as to catch you by surprise
and steal what you've got being of the essential kind.

The nature of evil can be very deceiving
especially when you're hardly aware
and will try to fool those who are believing
that they have nothing to worry about there.

Another way of looking at it will be you can assume
whatever you spend the most time doing when awake
including the type of food and drink that you consume
will have a strong influence on your inner life at stake.

He comes in the form of a female or male demon
you may regard as liable of causing strife;
being associated with the same gender human
that you might have recently met in real life.

The situation can be quite different for anyone
but the objective you can be sure is the same;
if you're sleeping it will try and have some fun
to steal what you are saving in a lustful game.

It is usually ugly but can also be beautiful too
and tries to seduce anyone while they're sleeping
regardless of that time of day when it visits you
particularly if unaware and it catches you dreaming.

One should be aware of the consequences involved here
which can be detrimental to mental and physical health
if it happens too often or indulged in and welcomed as dear
because it may lead to death and loss of spiritual wealth.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Notes:A Succubus is any evil spirit and according to folklore a female demon that is said to have sexual relations with sleeping men. The male counterpart of the form is called an Incubus and plays a similar role with sleeping women. It would be quite likely that if a person is "gay" or homosexual there wouldn't be such a clear distinction between one or the other. There are even some people who often mention or regard this phenomenon as their "dream lover" in their talk, poetry and writing. Also, the human body gets heated up at certain times by various means and has to discharge fluid to cool down if there's no immediate alternative. Most people become aware of all the above through the occurrence of what is known as a "wet dream".
