2. FAZAIA EDUCATIONAL WELFARE SCHEME




(a) Pakistan Air Force puts a high premium on the well-being of its human resource assets. It continuously endeavours to ensure welfare of its personnel, not only during their service tenure but also after retirement. Of special significance to PAF remains the education of children of its personnel. PAF sincerely believes that it is through educational empowerment that a long-term welfare of PAF personnel is ensured and materialized. Air Cdre Matloob Bokhariwrote and got approved thescheme.Fazaia Educational Welfare Scheme comprised the following three schemes:

(i) Fazaia Educational Scholarships. This scheme aimed at providing educational scholarships to both talented and needy wards of serving and retired/deceased PAF officers, airmen and civilians. The policy made provision for financial support at all levels of studies, starting from Prep to Master's.
(ii) Qarz-e-Hasna for Higher Education. This scheme aimed at providing financial assistance in the shape of Interest Free Loan (IFL)to talented needy wards of serving as well as retired PAF officers, airmen and civilians for Higher education in HEC recognized inland public or private institutions. This is a Qarz-e-Hasnascheme and actual amount of the Qarz-e-Hasna is to be paid back by the individuals.
(iii) Adopt a Student. The Air Staff desires that no child living in PAF premises is denied education because of financial constraints of the parents. With a view to alleviating the sense of deprivation among students belonging to financially not well-to-do families and ensuring continuation of their schooling, a scheme of "Adopt a Student" (on voluntary basis)by affluent officers / airmen / civilians has been approved by the Air Staff. All serving / retired PAF personnel as well as civilians can contribute to this scheme.







3. PAF RESERVED SEATS




(a) Alongside training its personnel, Pakisatn Air Force also places highest premium on the education of the wards of PAF personnel. In this connection, all possible efforts were made to coordinate with colleges and universities all over the country for acquiring reserved seats for wards of PAF personnel in almost all disciplines. The details of PAF reserved seats are as under:

(i) It is pertinent to highlight that the total number of PAF reserved seats in 2013 was 180, whereas in 2014, the number of reserved were augmented from 180 to 435 i.e. within one year as many as 255 PAF reserved seats were acquired. This appreciable increase in the number of reserved seats wasindeed a remarkable achievement.







4. CONTRIBUTION OF TRAINING BRANCH TO NATION BUILDING

(a) Training Branch of PAFcontributed significantly to nation building by undertaking a number of projects relating to raising awareness of people belonging to remote areas, enhancing the capacity building of teachers of Govt schools, providing financial support to the needy and deserving students and launching fund raising campaigns for the victims of earthquake and flood disasters. Some of the major nation building activities undertakenduring his tenure were as under:
(i) Arrangedfamiliarization visits for students and teachers of Govt schools of Balochistan
(ii) Conductedworkshops on Basic Pedagogical Skills for Govt school teachers of Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan
(iii) Fund Raising Campaign by Fazaia students was launched for the people of Awaran Balochistan earthquake disaster


5. CAPACITY BUILDING OF PAF PERSONNEL

(a) In view of the rising trend of radicalization in the country and particularly in the armed forces, Training Branchinstituted measures to raise the awareness of PAF personnel on the issue of radicalization and enhanced their capacity building.Theresearch study was carried out on Organizational Alignment Review to recommend measures for the heightening the awareness and enhancing the capacity building of PAF personnel. Based on the recommendations of the study, out- of -the -ordinary measures were taken which are as:
(i) Conductedlive telecast guest lectures / talks by renowned scholars / analysts at Nur Khan Auditorium, AHQ Islamabad
(ii) PAF Book Club issuedbooks to PAF personnelincluding Aasan Faham Quran, Aasan Turjuma Quran, Mazameen-e-Quran, Shaur-e -Agahi to broadenintellectual horizons of PAF Personnel.
(iii) Arranged seminars / workshops and courses on contemporary issues at Air University and COE for PAF personnel








6. MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN TRAINING BRANCH, PAKISTAN AIR FORCE
& BRITISH COUNCIL



(a) Training Branch of Pakistan Air Force,and the British Council Pakistan,tookfirst step towards a wider collaboration covering school education, higher education, skills development, andteacher training to contributefor a stronger Pakistan.
(b) The cooperationcovered the following programmes: -

(i) Connecting classroom programme
(ii) School Partnerships
(iii) Continuous Professional Development for Teachers and Head Teachers
(iv) International School Award (ISA)
(v) Courses
(vi) Policy Dialogues
(vii) Health and Physical Education
(viii) Scholarship programmeincluded Fazaia Schools and Colleges and FG Fazaia Schools on the list of partners of British Council so that the deserving Fazaia and FG Fazaia students can benefit from need based scholarships to further their education in quality conscious Fazaia institutions.
(ix) The Humara School Programme was a new initiative of the British Council that offered a complete improvement programme which offered a complete schools improvement model in the selected schools only.
