Accidental Inheritance Poem by Frank Adie

Accidental Inheritance

Religion is an accidental inheritance
90% of us didn't choose our religion
I am a Christian because my parents are Christians
Likewise you are a Muslim because your parents are Muslims
I believe what Christianity taught me
Likewise you believe what Islam taught you
But irrespective of our religious beliefs
We share a common fate: WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS.

God did not create Christians and Muslims
HE created human beings, hence we are one
Humanism must take precedence over religion
For it is only in loving humans that we can love God
Nigerians must embrace ubuntu
We must learn to live and die together as one people
Division along religious lines is ungodly
We are all God's children, and we share a common destiny.

The measure of our religiosity is how we relate with humans
Thus the milk of kindness must not dry from our breast
Heaven is not any religion's monopoly
It is open to all who do good deeds
Irrespective of your religion
Being our brother's keeper is the core of every godly religion
Whatever you do to the least of human beings
That you do unto God.
