Acquaintances Are Many Poem by Francis Duggan

Acquaintances Are Many

Acquaintances are many and friends they are rare
With friends you do have things in common to share
Things you can talk of and not argue about
Those of different opinions and different views of life you are better off without
An acquaintance is so very different to a friend
When you are in trouble on an acquaintance you cannot depend
Between an acquaintance and a friend the difference is great indeed
Your friend will stick by you in your time of need
Everyone in their life needs a good friend or two
In your difficult times who will stick by you
Of acquaintances you have many but your friends are in the few
And this is not saying anything that is new
In your times of need you do turn to your friend
On an acquaintance at such a time you cannot depend.
