Adage Poem by Sujoy Bhattacharya

Adage

I love to follow the maxims and proverbs in my life.
They are like stars dispersing darkness for distracted travellers.
I tried to decorate the edifice of my life with the wreaths of adages.
My near and dear ones considered me as a persistent lunatic person to worship age - old adages as living deities.
I used to write down improvising sayings of the ancient teachers
On the sandy seashores.
The waves of the howling sea tried to decipher the meaning of those proverbs.
The sun used to read with curiosity.
The fleet of the floating clouds stopped awhile to
Glance over the generous inscriptions.
Suddenly a host of phantoms appeared and nodded their bald heads
To tell me their mental agony to ooze through my motor nerves.
The fathers of the world famous adages lamented bitterly.
Had the world followed their instructions echoed within their maxims.
I couldn't help shedding tears of regret!
