Addicted Poem by Randy McClave

Addicted

I once was afflicted,
No, I was once addicted,
To adventures and high thrills
Then to needles, booze and pills.
My days would always begin
With a beer or a shot of gin,
And my days they would always end
When I lost my buzz and I began to ascend.
My family and friends they did worry
When about the house they saw we scurry,
And I think it all began with my first cigarette
Which I never saw as trouble or a threat.
I never saw the problem or the harm
Especially when I started taking a needle to the arm,
And never did I have any worries or dread,
But, now I am dead.
