A Child And A Gun Poem by Randy McClave

A Child And A Gun

Rating: 4.5

When a child is taught to use a gun
It's downfall from humanity has just begun,
They don't care to watch cartoons anymore
Instead they want to watch dramas, and war.
Then with a gun they are taught how to kill
First for the excitement, and then for the thrill,
Paper targets are first, then a bottle, and then a can
Next targets will be animals, and then man.
When they hear languages from different tongues
They then believe that all strangers are carrying guns,
"Always be locked and loaded and never be liable"
Is the prayer that they read, from the gun owners Bible.
They are taught and they believe that the world is scary
And to always believe the NRA, and not in Jesus or Mary,
A gun will then become their very best friend
It sends enemies to Hell, and to Heaven friends it will also send.
With their guns under their pillows they will happily sleep
To relax they count bullets, instead of white sheep,
They say that they will help protect others to stay safe and sound
But, when a shooting occurs, they are either the cause, or can't be found.
The children are our future which many people still say
But, for our children lately, I have sat down and cried and did pray,
I would hate to think to win an argument or even a dispute
That our children willpull out their guns, and shoot.

My brother and I bought us toy guns, which led to B.B. and pellet guns, we’d shoot anything and we enjoyed it. Then one day after shooting a bird we destroyed the B.B. guns and pellet guns, never used them ever again.

Children should never have a need to pick up gun. Even with hunting I worry that is done in excess. Yet it has become societial norm. Then we wonder why so many senseless shooting occur. Cheers yet another so true poem.

Wait quick question, does it count as the same thing, if my gun is for trapshooting?

My nephew never did trapshooting, after 4 years in the marines he came home, he found out his wife was cheating on him (don’t know his state of mind) he went to stay with his parents. One day while he was alone and drinking he dug up his stepfathers collectors gun, he took that gun walked off the property to a nearby cave, and he blew off half his head. If the gun wasn’t there, the gun would not had killed him.
