Addiction Free Poem by Emmy Ryann

Addiction Free

Staring into the endless abyss
You start to wonder if you’re mad or just sad
Is it worth your time to continue?
Or is it just time to slip?

Time sits in the corner
But lateral from time there is you
Usually praying for a deity
To come and save you
From what you caused

The feeling of an absolutely malevolent pleasure
Guilted and troublesome
Weighted and Continuous

Popping pills
Crushing pills
Snorting pills
Parachuting pills
Shooting pills

It becomes all becomes a destructive game
That will claw your brain
With sudden urges to just take
One more now, ten more later

Insomniacs are rising
Sleep-a-holics are falling
In betweeners are living

Pills cause immense pleasure
But with pleasure comes pain

The tingling sensations of
Creatures infesting your skin

Organs that lack
the motivation to continue

Restless eyes that never want to close
In hopes of just another dose

Misery and pain digging in your head
As your body cannot take it

But it was all a game to you
In the beginning
The simple pleasure of being cool
Laughs and jokes about overdosing

Cracking up about the withdrawal symptoms
Thinking they’d never attack your skin
Because you used to be the teen idol
Now what are you?

Wow! Such a powerful write on the ravages off drug use! Please read my poems, Where Am I? And Before and After. As the content is also based on drug addiction. Hope you'll find them as interesting as I've found this piece! Am adding this to my list of favorites!
