Adrift Poem by fraidoon warasta

Adrift

adrift
summer after a rather long breath
couldn't hold on here any longer
drifts
the takeover as eternity
unnoticed, peaceful and tranquil
autumn will offer
windy, rainy, chilly moments
and colourful descending and wandering leaves
the strippedness of the trees
is an expression of her curls and curves
to lure the air
to bring the white silky toga
to endure its frost

in this case
what is man's perpetual state?
Changing things?
Changing nothing!
even when the peace is settled

we the civilized ones
don't use our war-toys any more
instead we bargain with our brothers
within farther distances for peace

i still remember
once a master said:
‘ where there is ego, there is war.'
we enjoy somehow this game
maybe in our unconscious
we are afraid
of overpopulation
and overpowering ourselves

but understanding a mourning mother leopard
devouring her murdered tiny cub
is beyond our comprehension
remember! the murderer and the murdered are one

the snake cannot live on
without shedding its old skin
the scattered fragments of earth
without ganging up against man
will thrive on their own
