Advent Poem by Matt Western

Advent

Sound of youthful joy and laughter
Echo the seasons spark of wonder
As Autumn’s exodus marks the encountered slumber
So easy it is to forget the parting of sown pastures

Open new beginnings in the days hereafter
Now apparent conundrums in this hazy lumber
Slung by the dormant rays of the sun down under
Greeted with the shine of perpetual wonder

Resting in the essence of young and old
Entire new worlds and journeys to unfold
Entered enfolds of the imagination
Treated with much infatuation

Israelite messiah of eternal splendour
Never retired from his celestial wake
Greatness of virtue to return sender
Severing the curfew of time’s sake

Nesting the wealth and abundance of knowledge
Opening the self to unlock the homage
Equitable amongst everyone one of us
Lord of love and light to whom I dearly trust
