Advice For Lovers Poem by Barry Middleton

Advice For Lovers

a broken vow is common grief
I'm here to teach the young
and so prepare the way for them
that love may be undone

possession is the ruse of love
that swears to never stray
and yet we cannot own a soul
and prisons must betray

for none of us would forfeit will
it is our greatest right
and none of us will give it up
without a bitter fight

the challenge is to gently hold
and never chain a soul
so never dominate your love
possession takes its toll

think long and hard before the vow
for love's a daunting task
and I can give you good advice
you only have to ask

Unfortunatelly one has to pass through failure to understand the value of advices given. But here the advices do indeed paint the nature of love so lovely!

Yes, I never took advice when I was young and still rarely do. There is an American saying - the worst vice is advice.
