Advice I Was Told Poem by Randy McClave

Advice I Was Told

In my life, I was given the best advice
Always to be caring and trusting and helpful and nice,
Never do anyone intentionally wrong
And always fill my heart and others with a happy song.
I was also told to always beware
I was taught to be careful wherever I did look or stare,
And I was told to be careful what I believe or say
And I was taught never to forget to pray.
Just because you can resist the devil
And unto that fact unto others you brag and revel,
But, this I will say with a prayer and a shout
That doesn't mean you two should hang out.
If you don't want temptation to ever follow you
If you don't want it to pursue,
Then into any temptation don't be a bit invested
Don't act like your interested.
It's much easier to avoid temptation
From any room or from any direction,
It's easy to avoid the meeting and the conflict
Then it becomes very easy to resist it.
This was the best advice that was ever given me
It set my soul and my heart truly free,
I was also told this
When I go to bed at night, always give a kiss.
