Afraid - Poem by Austin Hughey

Lost and confused
Afraid of commitment
Well I have three words for her
I Love You
She says she will wait until next year before she starts to date
But being without her that long in unbearable to me
Even if it was next year I don’t think she would say yes to me
Does she not care about me like I do her
She says she don’t want to say yes so she will not hurt me again
But saying no hurt me more
Does she not think of me as I do her
Can she move out of being afraid
And see what she has
A man who loves her and will do anything for her
Who sees her perfect throw his eyes
Does she not care how I fill for her
Because if she would stop wondering about the future
And see what she has now
I may not be who she has dreamed for
I may not be her knight in shining armor
But at least I Love her for who she is
What else could matter
