Again The Silence Poem by Phil Mason

Again The Silence

Rating: 4.0

Again The Silence

Again the silence
And it echoes through my shattered soul like a thunderstorm
Careening across the Nebraska prairie on a warm
And humid afternoon.

Why will you not simply confront
What is your goal?
Simply to shut off
And walk away pretending nothing ever existed?

I'm done, this hurts, again.
But not as much as before.
I've hardened my heart.
I'll not pick, again, at this existential scab.

There is so much I'll never understand
You stormed in, unburdened your soul
To me as no one ever has before.
Then pulled back, and vanished.

As you have, again, here.
But I'm finished, the game has ended
Leaving me to my confusions
And a love I'll never forget.
