Aged Birds Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Aged Birds

Aged birds and wise
Birds
Time ripens birds
As with Beauty.

Aged
Bird
Of the thin
Valley-cleft
Where the winds howl
Where the winds shriek
Into the turbulence
That life process
Be.

Derite
Dimi
Dexi
Defi
Desimi
Dege
Depi
Distis
Dimis
Dici
Deti

Aged
Bird
Of the thin
Valley-cleft
Where the winds howl
Where the winds shriek
Into the turbulence
That life process
Be.

Set up the Tree of Freedom
Let it drip blood
Thick
That's payment.

The winds here
Howl
Whether night or
Day
Dark or light
North or south
Or
Combinations.

I saw an aged Poet-Seer with a staff
Waiting by midnight for ghosts and Beauty.
