All We Want Is The Real Change Poem by Bakare Oluwagbenga Michael

All We Want Is The Real Change

Rating: 5.0

Promises of change crushed those of transformation;
The battle between them was meant to be fierce;
But we bet all our coins on change to win effortlessly;
Change seemed to be the real deal then;
It still is now, but only after we have it.
-
The Nation possesses great wealth;
But its people possess shortage of health;
No one wishes to die of treason while speaking the truth;
So we swallow the pills of truth with drink of injustice;
Inequality sets the pace of development;
One man's house is another man's moneybag;
The farmers plough day and night;
Watering their crops with their blood and tears;
Our leaders' families laugh and celebrate;
For the undeserved victories they get.
-
Freedom has become just a name;
Independent is but a mere festival to the people;
Equality only feels great when read in books;
Development is down in vegetative state;
Patriotism is now a fugitive of the mind;
Moral value has become a scarce commodity among our youths;
Politics roars loud like a lion in the jungle.
-
We know what our worths are;
Yet we endure in pain;
We know we deserve more;
Yet we settle for less;
Even now, we still don't ask for much;
All we want is the real CHANGE...

Development is down in vegetative state; Patriotism is now a fugitive of the mind; Moral value has become a scarce commodity among our youths; Politics roars loud like a lion in the jungle...... great theme. The main thing is the scarcity of moral value. Value education should be imparted in schools and colleges. Dear Bakare, you have so nicely inscribed the this poem, I appreciate this. Full vote.
