Alone Poem by CHARMAINE SIMPSON

Alone

It’s cold here –
Every day – and every night.
The wind howls within this empty space.
The clouds never part
The sun does not shine
Dampness lingers
There is no escape from the emptiness.

Just beyond my reach - although close enough to see
Is the vision of a dream – this dream a reality for some.
I stand alone in the distance shivering from inside
As I watch those who smile with happiness
Warmth surrounds them with open arms
Giving closeness, security, comfort and completeness
This picture plays over as I –
Continue to dream!
