Alone Poem by Khaleel Steir

Alone

Nobody truly wants to be alone.
That feeling you feel deep down when you start to think about your life,
seeing that your life hasn’t lived up to how you imagined it would.

Love, the thing that you knew would be the source of your happiness,
though, it’s not there. Every person you try to give your heart to,
starts to see the real you, then turns and walks away.
Your mind then steps up and plays games with you.

Now what? You ask yourself, where do go from here?
Your mind roams and picks out every possibility like picking out clothes out your closet.
Thinking only makes things worse, so you decide life will come together eventually.
Being single seems nice and all but you’re not that type of person,
or are you? You’re slowly forgetting the answer to that question.

Now you’re back out looking where you should go, but confusion has set like the sun.
Your heart seeks the one you love, but she doesn’t care, well not anymore she doesn’t.
Hope, hope is what keeps you going.
It’s your light at the end of the tunnel.

Alone. Independence. Are two things that you have,
They say you were born alone, and in the end you will die alone,
those words are what haunt you at night. So you try to dream of better days.
