Alphabet Magic Poem by Mary Mc Creath

Alphabet Magic

Rating: 3.5

A writer writes a story, begins it with a plot.
Develops genre, characters, gives it lots of thought.

The subject has been chosen, to set the scenes alight.
He ponders and considers this, in inspiration flight.

A mystery here, a drama there, a story in gestation.
To titillate his readership, he aims at fascination.

A writers tools are magic in creating what they do.
Since the time of cuneiform, they've fascinated me and you.

Alphabet and punctuation have been helping them along.
To tell so many stories to a population throng.

Great poem! This poem not also makes effective use of rhymes, it is also carried forward with a flowing rhythm. Thematically, the poem captures very well a key essence of poetry: poetry is about magic and fascination. It is this magic that helps us see old things in new ways.
