American Film Stars Poem by Sheena Blackhall

American Film Stars

Consider, all of the stars you watch on the silver screen
The Hollywood Greats, are immortalized on film
The dead are resurrected by flicking a switch

Again and again you are seeing ghosts go through their paces
Double takes. Real people, larger than life
Their back stories weirder than any tragic script

Oh the diamonds, the furs, the sports cars
The Oscar statuettes! Oh the lavender marriages!
Oh the mumbling methods, the casting couch debauches
The abortions, affairs, the drugs, the drink, the suicides!
All those egos striving to top each other
The camera, always rolling, the spin, the paparazzi
And finally, to wrap it up,
The end board. The green screen of the grave
