Amrozi The Smiling Assassin Poem by Francis Duggan

Amrozi The Smiling Assassin

Amrozi the smiling assassin he is to face the firing squad
condemned to death by his Earth judges and now we will leave him to God
He helped to kill too many people and about it he smiled and laughed loud
His crimes beyond human forgiving yet he does seem so happy and proud.

The families of his victims he insulted Amrozi has to be a fool
How could anybody feel so happy after doing something so shameful and cruel?
He thinks he is bound for the martyrs heaven but on his final judgement day
The Allah he says that he killed for from heaven's gate will turn him away.

Amrozi the smiling assassin may die with a smile on his face
But if there is such a place as heaven for him there, there won't be a place
His bombs slaughtered far too many innocents, people he did not even know
How could he expect any mercy since any mercy he did not wish to show.

Amrozi the smiling assassin thinks he will die a martyr's death
But for his maimed and murdered victims he does not show any regret
Martyrs do not kill innocent people true martyrs don't kill for a cause
Their fight it is against oppression and against the most oppressive laws.

Amrozi the smiling assassin may go to his death with a smile
But in life he has been a failure and his existence has not been worthwhile
He maimed and murdered good and innocent people and he goes to his death in his prime
And he must be one heartless fellow to smile about his heinous crime.
