An Attempt. Poem by Denise Tuan

An Attempt.

Baffled,
By how my emotions have been treating me,
I take upon this trade to do the deed,
The deed I cannot comprehend,
As to why we don't blend,
And as to why we stuck to pretend-ing,
Only to add to the hurt and suffering.

Baffled,
More by the frustration,
Brought upon by the situation,
Going on the assumption,
That we can retrieve salvation.

Baffled,
Even more so by a constant surrender,
Of parties afraid to face their contender,
Waiting for something more splendor.

Challenged,
To face defeat,
Do we admit that we are beat
Realize the cause of our deceit,
Or do we pump back and forth and repeat?

Coming to the conclusion,
Applying our intuition,
To fight this intrusion
Only to be baffled.. by an illusion.
