I Dream Of A World (Edited) Poem by Denise Tuan

I Dream Of A World (Edited)

I dream of a world
Where pain doesn't exist,
We don't fear being hurt,
And our past, we happily reminisce.

I dream of a world
Where hearts aren't shattered
Into a billion pieces
By a guy who didn't matter.

Or at least easily mended,
Like putting a piece of paper back together with tape,
Or exchanging a dollar for tokens,
Or as easily as knowing our shapes.

The dream of this world
Will never be unfurled,
But we can try to make it real
Because it's not that surreal.

All you have to do is...
Heal the broken hearts
By putting together the parts.
Put the fear aside,
Get rid of all the lies,
Enjoy the happy times,
Look around and you may be surprised with what you may find,
Pick yourself up from the horrible fall
And realize the world isn't so bad after all.
