An Echo Poem by Aditya Chandrasen Salvi

An Echo

Rating: 3.5

Rejoice! For thou art alive,
With all the efforts to survive.
Rejoice! For you have achieved
What you desired and DESERVED!
You have almost outdone your friends and foes
And are ready for the race on your toes.

You say:
"My mind runs like a wild stead,
And my body works with a tremendous speed!
There is nothing that can stop me.
There is nothing that can tame me
As my eyes are fixed on the golden fish of name and fame"

You have reached the peak of success
And your heart is filled with eternal joys in excess!
It is for you a golden hour
For you are the master of great power!
Your heart is filled with restless happiness
But with a tint of loneliness.
To give a joyful embrace you turn around,
But there is no one to be found.
A face with all its merry animation
Is wet with tears of isolation.

You are done and on your own,
But lonely and all alone.
Happy as you are.
Yet with a painful scare.
Distressed you sit to contemplate.
Questions arise in mind:
"Where are others?
Where did they all go?
Why am I left all alone? "

The answer is nothing but an echo
An echo filled with all answers:
"My mind runs like a wild stead,
And my body works with a tremendous speed!
There is nothing that can stop me.
There is nothing that can tame me
As my eyes are fixed on the golden fish of name and fame"
But were you not aware of the salty waters
Of the game of shame?
