An Eternal Sleep Poem by Tawfeeq Hasan Khan

An Eternal Sleep

Have you ever seen beneath my subtle happy eyes?
You'll find tears of sorrow behind my soothing lies...
I have not got your love on earth where I desired,
Where I've found it is on dreams when I was tired...
If not on earth, even with each laboured endeavour,
Well it's fine then, I must sleep here forever...

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
It's a statement given by a lover who didn't get love from his beloved and the place where he got love is none other than his happiest dreams, so he tells that to get love he wants to sleep forever(he wants to die...) .
